A professional PMU machine is a precision instrument. With the right care routine, it can serve thousands of sessions without performance issues. With the wrong habits, even the best machine degrades fast. This guide covers everything you need to know — from daily hygiene to long-term storage.
1. After every session — clean immediately
The most critical window is right after you finish a session. Pigment and biological material dry fast. Once hardened, they are much harder to remove and can permanently damage internal components.
Remove needle cartridge first
Always detach the needle cartridge before cleaning. Never run cleaning solution through a loaded cartridge.
Wipe the grip and body
Use a medical-grade disinfectant wipe or 70% isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth. Wipe from tip to base.
Check the motor connection port
Use a dry cotton swab to clean around the cartridge connection port. No liquid should enter this area.
Store in a clean case
Once dry, place the machine back in its protective case. Never leave it exposed on a work surface between sessions.
Proper post-session cleaning takes less than 5 minutes and significantly extends machine lifespan.
2. Battery care — the most overlooked part
Battery degradation is the #1 reason PMU machines lose power consistency over time. The good news: it's almost entirely preventable.
Do this
Avoid this
Note: If your machine won't power on after the battery has been fully drained, don't assume it's broken. Connect it to the charger and wait 60 seconds — the battery management system needs a moment to recover from a deep discharge state before it can start up.
3. Needle cartridge rules — non-negotiable
Needle cartridges are single-use only — no exceptions. Reusing cartridges is a cross-contamination risk and can also damage your machine's motor over time as bent or dulled needles create uneven resistance.
One cartridge per client, always. Dispose of used cartridges in a sharps container immediately after the session ends.
Inspect each new cartridge before use. Check for bent needles or cracked cartridge housing — discard and replace if anything looks off.
Match needle configuration to treatment type. Using the wrong needle type strains the motor and produces inferior results.
Store unused cartridges in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Check expiry dates — sterility is time-limited.
4. Maintenance schedule
Wipe body and grip with disinfectant wipe. Clean connection port. Check charge level. Return to case.
Inspect the machine body for cracks or wear. Check cable condition. Run a test stroke to verify motor consistency.
Full charge cycle (charge to 100%, use to 20%, recharge). Clean case interior. Check firmware version for available updates.
Contact your supplier for a professional inspection. Consider battery replacement if capacity has noticeably declined.
5. Storage and travel
How you store and transport your machine matters as much as how you use it. Physical shock and temperature extremes are silent killers of precision equipment.
Temperature
Store between 10–30°C. Never leave your machine in a hot car, near a window, or in freezing conditions. Extreme temps degrade both the battery and motor.
Travel case
Always use a hard-shell case with foam insert when traveling. Soft pouches do not protect against drops or pressure in packed luggage.
Humidity
Avoid humid environments. If you work in a humid climate, add a silica gel packet to your storage case to prevent moisture buildup.
Cable management
Never wrap the charging cable tightly around the machine. Coil it loosely and secure with a velcro tie to prevent internal wire stress.
Summary
Caring for your PMU machine doesn't require expensive products or complicated routines. A consistent 5-minute post-session clean, smart battery habits, and proper storage will keep your machine performing at its best for years. At JiDragon, every machine is factory-built to last — and proper care ensures it does.
